We act for numerous companies and have done so many years. We supply statutory accounts, a general ledger which details how all the figures are made up, Corporation Tax Return and Self-Assessment Tax Returns for the directors/shareholders. Many of our corporate clients use QuickBooks Online (QBO) which we set up for them. A full training package is available and the client decides how much or how little they do themselves – we do the rest. Each year we advise our clients of changes in tax legislation such as the new rules on the taxation of dividends and the changes to the VAT Flat Rate Scheme. We can also run the payroll using Payroll Manager. For Companies House compliance, we suggest Inform Direct. Access usually costs £72 pa however we include this for a nominal charge as part of our annual fees. Contact Mike for a personalised estimate and ask about our new client/new business discount.
Bookkeeping, payroll and VAT
We can usually train you to do your own bookkeeping. If you decide to use QuickBooks Online (QBO) most clients need an initial one hour training session during which we set up the bank feeds, invoices etc. Any further queries they may have can then be answered by phone. A second session is not usually needed but can be provided on request. Where the bookkeeping is very simple (ie one invoice a month for income and a handful for expenses VT Cashbook, which is free, will be sufficient. The VAT and payroll on this type of company is usually straightforward and can be done very quickly and cost effectively.
This client has run his own one man company for many years and is familiar with double entry bookkeeping . He supplies the year end trail balance and we make the year end adjustments to produce the accounts and Corporation Tax Return. These are then submitted to HMRC and Companies House. He deals with his own Tax Return. This is covered by our basic package.
Our typical “bread and butter” clients are one man/husband and wife consultants/traders (IT, sales, NHS, maintenance, building, plumbing, electrical) trading through limited companies. Where the spouse has spare allowances, we advise that they become a shareholder and if they can justify a salary, an employee. This type of company may sometimes fall within IR35 and we can make the client aware of these rules. These clients do some of the bookkeeping on QuickBooks Online and we do the rest. We prepare the quarterly VAT Returns, deal with the payroll and Companies House compliance, prepare and submit statutory and abbreviated accounts and submit and agree the corporate and personal tax returns. This type of client will need our standard service.

He requires tax advice from time to time and likes to pop in for meetings a few times a years. This client will use our premium service.
